Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is a broad and interdisciplinary basic science department in the School of Medicine at UNC-CH. As a top-ranked, nationally recognized leader in basic science research, our faculty and staff are engaged in innovative and cutting-edge research in neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, cellular cytoskeleton, cell motility, and imaging. The Department houses one PhD program: the Cell Biology and Physiology Curriculum, with 48 enrolled PhD candidates. The department has approximately 55 faculty members involved in research, education, and service. Many faculty and laboratories provide training for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in biomedical sciences. The department also has 2 Core Facilities to support research activities.

Position Summary
The Azizoglu laboratory studies the control of organ growth and regeneration. We are seeking a research technician to perform lab tasks and assist with lab management. Responsibilities include mouse colony management, molecular assays (nucleic acid isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, RNA in situ hybridization), tissue collection and processing (dissections, sectioning, immunohistochemistry), microscopy (confocal and light-sheet imaging), primary cell culture (dissections, FACS), and data analysis. Animal handling is required for this position.
