The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is a broad, interdisciplinary basic science department within the School of Medicine at UNC-CH. As a top-ranked, nationally recognized leader in basic science research, our faculty and staff engage in innovative research in neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, cellular cytoskeleton, cell motility, and imaging. The department houses one PhD program: the Cell Biology and Physiology Curriculum, currently with 48 enrolled PhD candidates. We have approximately 55 faculty involved in research, education, and service, many of whom provide training for undergraduates and postgraduates. The department also includes 2 Core Facilities to support research activities.

The Azizoglu laboratory studies the regulation of organ growth and regeneration throughout the body. We are seeking a research technician to perform laboratory tasks and assist with lab management. Responsibilities include mouse colony management, molecular assays (nucleic acid isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, RNA in situ hybridization), tissue collection and processing (dissections, sectioning, immunohistochemistry), microscopy (confocal and light-sheet imaging), primary cell culture (dissections, FACS), and data analysis. The role requires animal handling skills.
