Position Description

The Department of Neurosciences at UCSD is dedicated to cutting-edge research and education in neuroscience. Under supervision, the Research Technician will assist in research focusing on human cell models for neuroscience, including cell reprogramming, culture techniques, genome editing, imaging, molecular biology, and data analysis.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge in molecular biology, cellular neuroscience, or related field with laboratory experience.
  • Experience in laboratory management, human stem cell disease modeling, and compliance with SOPs and regulations.
  • Experience with quality control documentation and verification of reagents and materials.
  • Proficiency in managing human cell lines, 2D and 3D neural cultures, and related laboratory techniques.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to learn new techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical/scientific terminology related to neurobiology.
  • Experience with data analysis software such as Word, Prism, and Excel.
  • Ability to perform accurate record-keeping and organize work efficiently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience in manuscript preparation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
  • Skill in operating lab equipment safely and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in neuroscience or related field.
  • Publication record in neuroscience and cell biology.
  • Knowledge of lab safety, biohazard handling, and waste disposal regulations.
Special Conditions
  • Employment subject to criminal background check.
  • Willingness to work with biohazardous materials and flexible hours.
Additional Information

Pay range: $55,374 - $66,064 annually; $26.52 - $31.64 hourly, prorated if part-time.
