**Job Description:**
The Research Technician will perform technical laboratory duties and related data analysis in support of ongoing research projects. Responsibilities include learning sophisticated techniques, maintaining equipment, training new lab members, and assisting with ordering, inventory, and organization of the laboratory. The candidate should work well in a collegial environment and interact regularly with lab members. Motivated individuals may lead independent projects and contribute to scientific writing.

**Responsibilities:**

• Maintain rat colony, coordinate breeding and weaning.
• Assist with surgery, monitor post-operative rats, and help with metabolic caging collections.
• Train new lab members.
• Assist with ordering and equipment maintenance.
• Perform techniques such as cell culture, PCR, Western blotting, ELISAs.
• Collect and analyze data.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and data storage.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and statistical analysis/graphing software.

**Qualifications:**

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3+ years of lab or research experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s or higher in biological sciences, 5+ years of wet-lab research, experience with animal handling and surgery, leadership experience.

This position may require a Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.
