Job summary

University of California, San Francisco seeks a Junior Specialist to join the Erlebacher lab on the UCSF Parnassus Campus. The role involves bench work in immunology and epigenetics related to pregnancy, including labor timing and fetal maternal immune interactions.

You will independently handle multiple projects, perform molecular and cellular techniques, and assist with mouse colony management and data analysis under supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in science or related field, or 4+ years of research experience.
• Experience with basic molecular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology techniques.
• Strong Excel skills and excellent organizational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence staining of tissue sections, including photomicroscopy.
• RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR/RT-PCR, Western blots, and PCR primer design using online tools.
• Cell culture including transfections, treatments, and lentivirus preparation.
• Mouse colony maintenance including tailing for genotyping, weaning litters, tail DNA prep and PCR analysis, and record keeping.
• Mouse pregnancy experiments including drug administration and labor induction timing.
• Isolation of cells from mouse tissues and analysis by flow cytometry, single cell RNA-Seq, and CUT&RUN.
• Lab managerial duties including reagent and supply orders, maintenance of supplies, interfacing with EH&S and IACUC.
