As we advance toward AGI and develop intelligent robots and AI models, we are seeking talented professionals across disciplines such as robotics hardware, system software, perception, and artificial intelligence. Our projects are pioneering efforts that offer a unique opportunity to create new ways for people to connect globally.

Meta Robotics Studios is hiring a Research Scientist

This role involves research and applied research to lead innovation, design, development, and prototyping of novel robotics solutions, including electro-mechanical design and perception-to-control problems. The position requires balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability, safety, and quality standards. The scientist will work within a collaborative team on concept development, modeling, prototype creation, and testing, potentially focusing on electro-mechanics, sensors, communication, planning, and control.

Responsibilities:
  1. Advance research in robotics design and development, including new components and processes for production-ready systems.
  2. Drive the robotics roadmap by exploring innovative architectures.
  3. Design and analyze mechanical and electrical systems, sensors, mechanisms, power transmission, communication hardware/firmware, and system integration, ensuring performance and reliability.
  4. Develop control algorithms for executing actions with motors, integrating sensors and actuators, collaborating with AI and Mechatronics teams.
  5. Conduct experiments on real and simulated robotic systems, supporting fabrication and assembly of prototypes.
  6. Build and assemble robot subsystems and full prototypes in the lab.
  7. Perform failure analysis through testing, data analysis, and design refinement.
  8. Research and develop novel contact and non-contact sensors, understanding their physics and mechanics.
  9. Develop communication hardware, firmware, and calibration methods.
  10. Design feedback controllers around sensors and actuators.
  11. Research planning algorithms involving perception and collision avoidance.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. At least 1 year of experience in robotics, electro-mechanical design, sensors, or similar.
  3. PhD or equivalent in Robotics, AI, or related field.
  4. Experience designing complex electromechanical assemblies.
  5. Experience in robotics or consumer electronics product design.
  6. Knowledge in motor control, control algorithms, sensor design, optimization, machine learning, etc.
  7. Strong organizational and analytical skills, capable of working in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with manufacturing processes, power electronics, CAD tools, optimization, machine learning, and programming.
  2. Knowledge of mass production, automation, simulation tools, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
