Overview

The People Skills Intelligence team at Microsoft is developing a new data layer in Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365, and Viva apps that understands your company's backbone—your people. This team creates the inference engine, knowledge graphs, and produces people intelligence grounding data. We seek Applied Scientists II and Senior Applied Scientists to join our team of AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and Researchers. Responsibilities
  • Develop business and product requirements by collaborating with Product Managers and Engineering teams to incorporate AI research into product development.
  • Conduct cutting-edge applied AI research, analyze innovations, and influence product vision and investments.
  • Publish work in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Ensure customer-centric AI research and product development, incorporating feedback to enhance relevance and satisfaction.
  • Work with cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle from idea to iterative improvement.
  • Collaborate with researchers to explore open questions and transfer AI research into product features.
  • Mentor team members, demonstrate leadership, and engage with the academic community.
  • Uphold AI credibility through participation in initiatives, publications, and talks.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's in a related field + 2+ years of experience, or Master's + 1+ year, or Doctorate, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience with Foundation Models, domain adaptation, Agentic Systems, NLP, Prompt tuning.
  • Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Preferred:

  • Higher experience levels as per qualification tiers, demonstrated innovation, published research, and communication skills.
Compensation

Roles are classified as Applied Sciences IC3 or IC4 with respective pay ranges, varying by location. Benefits and additional pay details are available on the Microsoft careers site.
