Job summary

Elanco is seeking a Research Scientist - Computational Biologist to drive AI‑assisted design of antibodies and proteins within our Discovery Research team in Indianapolis. You will leverage state‑of‑the‑art AI and structural modeling tools to predict, design, and optimize biologics, collaborating with wet‑lab scientists to accelerate candidates.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 0-3 years of post‑graduate experience applying computational methods to biological problems.
• A strong foundation in structural bioinformatics and AI/ML modeling, with Python programming and cross‑functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Utilize and develop AI-driven tools (e.g., AlphaFold, Rosetta) to predict and design structures of antibodies and proteins for biologics pipeline.
• Apply generative AI and structural modeling to design novel antibody/protein modalities with high-precision epitope targeting.
• Engineer out liabilities (aggregation, immunogenicity) and train structure‑based ML architectures to improve developability.
• Collaborate with wet‑lab teams to analyze data, validate predictions, and iterate designs for antibody optimization.
• Stay current with AI landscape, document findings, and communicate results to cross‑functional teams.
