Job summary

Elanco is seeking a Research Scientist - Computational Biologist to advance AI-driven design of antibodies and proteins within our Discovery Research team. You will leverage state-of-the-art tools to predict structures and optimize biologics, collaborating closely with wet-lab colleagues to accelerate pipeline progress.

PhD in relevant field with 0-3 years of computational biology experience is expected, with a strong emphasis on Python, AI/ML methods, and cross-disciplinary communication.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of post-graduate experience applying computational methods to biological problems.
  • Strong foundation in structural bioinformatics and AI/ML modeling, with proficiency in Python and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and develop AI-driven tools (e.g., AlphaFold, Rosetta) to predict and design high-resolution structures of antibodies and other proteins, supporting the biologics pipeline.
  • Apply generative AI and structural modeling to design novel antibody and protein modalities with optimized epitope targeting, affinity, and specificity.
  • Proactively identify and engineer liabilities and train ML architectures to improve developability of biologic candidates.
  • Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to analyze data, validate predictions, and iterate designs to accelerate antibody selection and optimization.
  • Stay current with AI advances, document findings, and communicate complex results to cross-functional teams.
