Job summary

Elanco, a global animal health leader, seeks a Research Scientist – Computational Biologist to advance AI-driven design of antibodies and proteins. You will work with AlphaFold, Rosetta, and other tools to accelerate our biologics pipeline, collaborating closely with wet-lab teams to validate predictions and iterate designs.

You will apply de novo design and structure-based ML methods, tackle developability challenges, and stay at the forefront of AI-driven biotherapeutics in a hybrid work

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 0-3 years post-graduate experience applying computational methods to biological problems.
  • Strong foundation in structural bioinformatics and AI/ML modeling, with proficiency in Python and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and develop AI-driven tools (e.g., AlphaFold, Rosetta) to predict and design high-resolution structures of antibodies and other proteins, supporting the biologics pipeline.
  • Apply generative AI and structural modeling to design novel antibody and protein modalities from scratch, optimizing them for epitopes, affinity, and specificity.
  • Identify and engineer out liabilities (aggregation, immunogenicity) and train structure-based ML architectures to improve developability.
  • Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to analyze data, validate predictions, and iterate on designs to accelerate antibody selection.
  • Stay current with AI landscape, document efforts thoroughly, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.
