Job summary

University of Minnesota seeks a post-doctoral associate/research scientist with extensive experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and tissue engineering to advance cardiovascular disease modeling using human iPSC-derived cardiac cells and engineered tissues.

The role involves conducting experiments, data collection, and manuscript preparation, with supervision of junior trainees; this is a one-year appointment with possible extension. Visa relocation support is not provided.

Responsibilities

• 80% Experimental Research: design, implement and analyze experiments studying hypertrophic cardiomyopathies in monolayer cultures and engineered tissues; gene editing; data analysis; literature review.
• 10% Scientific Writing and Presentations: develop and write journal articles and reviews; participate in lab meetings; potentially present at meetings.
• 10% Lab supervision and Other duties: supervise trainees; assist troubleshooting; contribute to lab maintenance and supply ordering.

About the Job

Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and productivepost-doctoral associate/research scientist with extensiveexperience in cell biology, molecular biology, and tissueengineering to join our team. In this role, you will have theopportunity to contribute to broad research projects focused oncardiovascular disease modeling and cardiac regeneration usinghuman induced pluripotent stem cells derived cardiac cell types andassociated engineered tissues.

As a team member, you will be responsible for conductingexperiments and collecting data. You will contribute to thepreparation of research manuscripts for publication and grantsubmissions. In addition to your research responsibilities, youwill play an important role in supervising junior trainees. This isa one-year position with the possibility of extensions thereafter.Visa sponsorship and/or relocation assistance is not available forthis position.

Duties/Responsibilities

80% Experimental Research:

• Development, design, and implementation of experiments to studyhypertrophic cardiomyopathies in monolayer culture and engineeredtissues, Gene editing, CRISPR/Cas9 expertise.
• Analysis of data and determination of next steps.
• Review relevant literature.

10% Scientific Writing and Presentations:

• Develop and write journal articles including primary researchand review articles for peer-reviewed publication.
• Participation in laboratory meetings.
• Possible presentation at local and national meetings.

10 % Lab supervision and Other duties as assigned:

• Provide day-to-day supervision of trainees.
• Be a resource for laboratory personnel and trainees fortroubleshooting.
• Contribute to lab maintenance and supply ordering.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in biomedical fields or related area including stem cellbiology, molecular biology, genomics, biomedical engineering,biochemistry.
• Experience of successfully contributing to writing papers andgrants.
• Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
• Successful candidates will work collaboratively with juniortrainees.
• Experience with Gene-Editing, CRISPR/Cas9 tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Stem Cell Culture, Cardiomyocytes culture, andCardiac Cell Differentiation.
• Experience with generating knockin/knockout hiPSC lines.

Pay Range: $63,480 - $77,076 ; depending oneducation/qualifications/experience
