Job summary

Position Summary

ShepsGME (Sheps Graduate Medical Education) is a portfolio of federal, state, and organization funded projects which develop, implement, and evaluate technical assistance infrastructure for supporting the development, expansion, and sustainability of graduate medical education ( GME ) training opportunities. This mission of ShepsGME is to reduce the maldistribution of physicians and dentists in rural and underserved areas by supporting the development of rural and health center residency programs.

The ShepsGME team is seeking a Research Program Manager to serve as a key member of our technical assistance center program team. The Research Program Manager will oversee and coordinate technical assistance services and educational offerings, and program evaluation efforts across state and federally funded projects that support the development of new graduate medical education ( GME ) and graduate dental training programs in rural and underserved communities.

This role focuses on the development and execution of education and stakeholder engagement strategies in compliance with university and funder regulations. The Research Program Manager will be responsible for managing the center’s stakeholder engagement products and educational offerings (e.g., national conferences, webinars, virtual workshops, and stakeholder meetings). This role also supports program evaluation and outcomes tracking, including collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data on program performance and contributing to reports and dashboards for funders and university leadership. This role will be involved in translating relevant data and subject matter expertise to a variety of products for different audiences, supported by a team of experienced GME development technical assistance (TA) providers and researchers. This role must ensure that the ShepsGME Technical Assistance Centers’ services are produced and disseminated within budget and in compliance with university and funder regulations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master’s or Bachelor’s and 0-2 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

• Knowledge of federal or state funded research projects.
• Understanding of federal TA centers, grant-based reporting, or programmatic evaluation.
• Previous experience working in a healthcare or public health setting, especially related to graduate medical education or workforce environment.
• Familiarity with communications tools (e.g. Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva) and virtual event platforms (e.g. Zoom, Webex) is desired.
