Job summary

University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Program Coordinator II to serve in The Schmitz Lab. The role leads operational aspects of exercise oncology studies, coordinating patient identification, consent, scheduling, data collection, and data management.

The position collaborates with clinicians and senior lab staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, accurate CRFs, and timely reporting. A hybrid on-campus/remote schedule is available with a focus on protocol integrity and data quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 3+ years of related research experience preferred.
• Experience coordinating clinical or exercise oncology studies is a plus.
• Familiarity with good clinical practice and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Lead data collection procedures for multiple studies.
• Contact participants to schedule and collect data per protocol.
• Ensure protocol adherence and compliance with SOPs, policies, and regulations.
• Enter data into study databases and maintain source documentation.
• Support Project Manager with scheduling, queries, and data preparation.

Research Program Coordinator

This position is to serve as Research Staff for The Schmitz Lab and will lead many of the operational aspects required of multiple exercise oncology research studies. This staff person will work with clinicians and staff to identify patients, approach patients, obtain informed consent, schedule study-related appointments, collect and coordinate study data, troubleshoot issues that occur before, during and after patient visits, and ensure that all case report forms are completed thoroughly. This position will work with several senior lab staff on several exercise oncology trials.

Responsibilities: Lead data collection procedures. Contact participants to schedule and collect data per protocol. Use all case report forms as designed by the protocol, document all activities per good clinical research guidelines. Ensure protocol adherence to the best of ability. Ensure the safety of research and participant information. Comply with federal, state, and sponsor policies, as well as Institutional policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and guidelines. Ensure data collection documentation is completed. Perform data entry into appropriate databases and organizing source documentation appropriately, as needed. Gather data for the Project Manager regarding project scheduling/timelines, coordinating meetings, preparing preliminary data, researching references, and formatting accuracy according to funding agency specifications. Additionally, assist project manager with answering any queries that are issued by the sponsor, or requested by a team member for their study. Analyze and recommend improvements to policy and procedures. Other duties as assigned by the project manager or lab manager
