The University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurology seeks to hire a Clinical Research Coordinator. The coordinator will conduct all aspects of clinical research trials from site initiation through activation and completion under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Responsibilities include study start-up and documentation; budget development and fiscal tracking; IRB submissions and consent forms; protocol implementation across UPMC departments; participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow-up; conducting study visits and neuropsychological assessments; obtaining medical histories, blood pressure screenings, and blood collection via phlebotomy as applicable; processing and shipping biological specimens; dispensing medications under physician or nurse practitioner orders; managing research supplies and equipment; and ensuring timely, accurate documentation and data entry.
The coordinator will collaborate with investigators, research staff, IRB personnel, UPMC departments, sponsors, and monitors. Additional duties may include assisting with IRB protocols, the Research Registry, brain bank pager coverage, and community outreach activities. This position has a significant impact on program operations and may affect the health and well-being of research participants. The successful candidate must understand applicable policies and procedures, exercise independent judgment, and resolve unique problems through the collection and interpretation of information. A Master\'s degree is preferred.
Job Summary
Prepares grant applications, manuscripts, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, research papers, and assists with complex research papers. Audits research studies, monitors study budgets, resolves complex data collection issues, and implements protocol-specific study recruitment plans. Trains staff and oversees student workers; leads team meetings. Monitors study budgets and orders supplies.
