Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is looking for a Research Program Coordinator to join Dr. Earlise Ward’s research team in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. You will coordinate research projects aimed at improving mental health in underserved communities.

This role involves excellent administrative skills, project management, and the ability to work in diverse environments. The selected candidate will also manage program budgets and develop training programs, requiring collaboration with stakeholders and research participants.

Job description

Salary: The starting salary for the position is $67,413 annually, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Job Summary

The Research Program Coordinator will coordinate research projects for Dr. Earlise Ward’s research team at the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. Ward’s Community Wellness Initiative (ComWell) conducts community‑engaged mental health research focused on underserved groups. The Coordinator will work directly with study team members, collaborators, stakeholders, and underrepresented racial and ethnic minority research participants to ensure that all study objectives are met. This position requires excellent administrative, organizational, written communication and interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and independent planning, organizing, and implementation. Work schedules may include evenings and weekends based on operational needs and position expectations. Some work may be performed in‑person onsite; some work may be performed remotely.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Must provide a valid driver’s license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research programs.
  • Plan, develop, and implement processes and protocols to support research aims.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program development and information.
  • Monitor program budget(s) and approve unit expenditures.
  • Interact with study participants and community engaged stakeholders, conduct data collection, and monitor participants throughout the study.
  • Serve as a unit liaison and subject‑matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborate across disciplines and functional areas, provide program information, and promote the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating complex research projects. Preference will be given to experience in community‑engaged research and outreach, with public/community health, and/or mental health.
  • Experience collaborating with study team members, collaborators, community stakeholders, and research participants using community‑engaged processes.
  • Knowledge of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and experience with grant funding and budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with University of Wisconsin–Madison research administration systems, institutional policies, and procedures related to human subjects research, budgeting, and project operations.
  • Experience with REDCap database or other research database and data quality management.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree preferred; focus in psychology or sociology preferred.
