Job summary

The University of Minnesota seeks a Social Worker (Research Professional 2) to support the NIH‑funded HBCD study, focusing on outreach, retention, and participant support with a certified peer navigator. The role engages with families across diverse backgrounds and involves coordinating resources and services at study visits.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Experience providing personalized one-on-one support.
  • Experience working with women with substance use disorder.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on-site at MIDB/ICD/Department of Psychiatry.
  • Willingness to work 1–3 weeknights or weekend days per week.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Retention & support of study participants through multiple strategies and activities.
  • Maintaining a catalog of local resources and referrals for participants.
  • Providing personalized one-on-one support during study visits and, if needed, home visits.
  • Co-developing plans and purchasing items for non-monetary compensation.
  • Leading monthly participant groups and managing a warm-line for questions.
  • Communicating with child welfare contacts to coordinate participation.
  • Supervising and supporting assessment and scheduling teams.
  • Participating in team and advisory board meetings.
  • Organizing events to retain enrolled participants.
