About the Role

The Research Librarian provides reference and research assistance to support legal and administrative departments, organizes library materials, and participates in continuing education on library resources. The role reports to the Director of Library & Research Services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist attorneys and staff with research using print and digital resources, billing time to relevant client/matters.
2. Support administrative departments with research needs, including monitoring news, dockets, legislative updates, and preparing related communications.
3. Maintain and update intranet research collections, perform link checking, and facilitate resource integration.
4. Provide library orientation and training on print and electronic resources.
5. Participate in resource evaluation and pilot new services.
6. Maintain proficiency in library collections, digital resources, and research platforms such as Lexis, Westlaw, BloombergLaw, and others.

Minimum Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of library tools, systems, and resources.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with research platforms like PACER, Lexis, Westlaw, BloombergLaw, and Pitchbook.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple deadlines.

Education & Experience

• MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution preferred, or relevant research experience.
• 1-3 years of law library experience preferred, including law firm experience.

Location & Salary

Positions are available in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, DC, or San Francisco. Salary ranges vary by location, e.g., $99,200 to $148,800 in New York and San Francisco.
