Job description

The Research Lab Operations Analyst will participate in coordinating daily operations and organization of a focused team of translational immunology researchers in the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage OSU-specific software (Workday) required submissions and monitoring for hiring new staff, students, and volunteers
  • Perform basic onboarding tasks for new employees and approve staff timekeeping in Workday
  • Serve as a technical resource in the lab; develop and implement new lab protocols under supervision from the Principal Investigator
  • Oversee students, postdocs, and staff use of specialized equipment
  • Direct, oversee, and authorize day-to-day purchases and maintenance; negotiate pricing with external vendors for lab equipment and supplies
  • Manage compliance certification and policy review for staff, students, and volunteers; enforce compliance with federal, state, and University standards
  • Assist with administrative documents including material transfer agreements and permits; maintain and update biosafety (IBC), animal use (IACUC), and human subjects (IRB) protocols as required
  • Assist with clinical sample documentation, procurement, and storage
  • Perform in vivo, in vitro, and molecular laboratory techniques as needed; techniques include flow cytometry, tissue processing, cell sorting, mammalian cell culture, RT-PCR, RNA and DNA isolation, genetic cloning, lentiviral infection of mammalian cells, and in vivo transplantation of immune-deficient mice

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in the biological sciences

Additional Education Desired: Master's Degree

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or equivalent experience; considerable knowledge of laboratory methods, materials, and equipment; at least 2 years of supervisory experience; experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques; cell culture, animal husbandry, and handling experience are preferred. Successful background check and pre-employment physical including drug screen required.
