Job Description

The WFIRM Research Laboratory Technician IV will participate in a research project to develop a new platform to enable the testing of vaccines. Under a general supervision plan, the applicant will perform a variety of complex tasks including antigen uptake and presentation, immune cell activation and differentiation, in vitro biological and functional tests for verification of tissue construct viability and functional assays. The applicant will develop, modify, and implement experimental procedures in a research laboratory, exercising independent judgment based on specialized scientific knowledge. Research will be conducted in a team environment using established protocols and scientific data related to tissue engineered constructs. The applicant will also provide guidance to other technicians, trainees, and personnel. Experience in immunology, engineering, and cell biology is a plus.

Characteristic Work

1. Collaborate with principal investigator and team members to plan, develop, and implement research projects; establish control procedures for test standardization and manufacturing processes.
2. Develop experimental techniques for specimen and tissue analysis in complex laboratory procedures.
3. Review scientific literature to gather or verify information used in designing procedures or techniques for research and clinical projects.
4. Prepare detailed reports on experimental results; discuss findings with team members and collaborate on scientific publications.
5. Supervise and coordinate laboratory operations, including training, staffing, facility and equipment maintenance, and compliance with procedures and regulations.
6. Design detailed plans for large-scale collaborative studies, including monitoring, treatment, data analysis, and reporting.
7. Perform other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• University degree in biological sciences with four years of related research experience, or
• Master's degree in immunology, biology, or related field with two years of laboratory experience.
