Job summary

Atrium Health in Winston-Salem seeks a Research Laboratory Technician to perform complex biological and chemical tests in a NIH/NIAMS funded lab. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the biological and/or physical sciences with two years’ related clinical/research experience or equivalent.
• Master’s degree in biology or related physical science preferred.
• Experience with PCR, immunohistochemistry and Western Blot strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consult with the principal investigator and assist in plan development for experiments and data collection.
• Modify existing lab procedures to meet project needs.
• Prepare detailed reports and discuss results with the PI.
• Review literature for methods and supplemental information and organize data.
• Conduct complex chemical, physical, and biological tests on experimental materials.
• Perform micro-analysis, enzyme studies, and chromatography on tissues and fluids.
• Monitor care of research animals and collect samples per protocols; assist with minor surgeries.
• Supervise and train students and junior staff in lab procedures.
• Operate and instruct others on use of complex lab instruments.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
