Job Description

Key personnel will assist in conducting meaningful research to support faculty in teaching and research programs. The role involves specialized work in planning and conducting cell, molecular, and animal experiments, training students and lab members at the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM), under faculty supervision.

The responsibilities include:

1. Supporting SVM faculty in managing the lab, training students and lab members
2. Performing cell, molecular, and animal experiments and reporting to faculty. Planning, coordinating, and conducting research activities.
3. Overseeing lab safety and operations in accordance with EHS and OLAC/IACUC guidelines and policies.
4. Developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory experiments.
5. Optimizing and developing new protocols as needed.
6. Managing organization of specimens, reagents, and materials; maintaining databases and inventories; procuring supplies; managing vendor relationships.
7. Developing methods and conducting gene, protein, and metabolite analyses.
8. Maintaining laboratory equipment and its usage.
9. Managing all lab animal studies and assisting with animal experimentations, including instrument maintenance and timeline management.
10. Providing regular reports on lab operations and management to faculty.
11. Assisting faculty in training and mentoring students and lab members.
12. Coordinating the use of SVM core facility equipment for lab members.

Qualifications include a Master's degree and four years of relevant experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
