Job Description Summary

Perform routine laboratory tests for the assessment of metabolic health status of animals. Works with complex systems or perform highly technical tests in medical or scientific laboratories. Assists in performing complex laboratory maintenance tasks and other laboratory projects, as assigned. Will assist senior level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. The technician will carry out routine tasks such as preparation of media and reagents, place orders for supplies, help maintain inventory and place lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day.This is grant funded approved as a 1-year position, with possibility of extension. Position located in Kennett Square, PA. No public transportation available.

Job Description

The incumbent will also be in charge of overseeing the proper execution of all animal research activities, and work with other laboratory members to guarantee proper animal handling and sample and data collection.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments and enter findings into computer.
  • Processing samples. Preparation and shipping. Organize data and compile for reporting.
  • Analyze the results of tests or experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical or electrical devices.
  • Preparation of analytical and experimental reagents at the laboratory.
  • Collect blood or tissue samples from research animals.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies, order supplies, oversee general laboratory maintenance and safety compliance. Collecting and analyzing data through biomechanical approaches, biological assays and microscopy. Perform routine animal studies, behavioral testing and tissue harvests and preparations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
