Job summary

UNSW’s Kirby Institute is seeking a Research Fellow (Biostatistician) to design, analyse and report studies using national linked health data. You will collaborate with investigators and stakeholders, apply advanced methods and contribute to publications while working within the SERP team.

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position based in Sydney with visa requirements noted. You will join a world-leading health research environment that emphasizes data-driven solutions and global impact.

Qualifications

• A PhD in a related discipline and/or relevant work experience.
• High level skills in STATA, R, SAS, PySpark and Python.
• Experience in management and analysis of linked health data, the production of statistical analysis plans and the use of GitHub.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake high‑quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
• Develop and execute advanced data management and statistical analysis methods on large scale surveillance, linked and administrative datasets.
• Draft and finalise study concept sheets, statistical analysis plans, code, data visualisations, scientific manuscripts and reports.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, analyze and report on linked and surveillance health data research.
• Apply advanced analytical methods to large datasets with investigators and stakeholders.
• Contribute to publications and reports and present findings to diverse audiences.
• Work in a multidisciplinary environment within the SERP team.
