MilliporeSigma is seeking a 6‑month co‑op starting January 4, 2027 through June 25, 2027 in Burlington, MA to join the Life Science Biology franchise within R&D. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and designers on developing cutting-edge instruments, consumables, and hardware for the life science research market.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Electromechanical Engineering for the duration of the co-op.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software and engineering drawings.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to team goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of design, development, and process engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with other R&D colleagues in developing products to address customer needs.
  • Develop new test or manufacturing processes to support product development.
  • Apply statistical tools & methods to assess experimental data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Support the development of prototypes and ensure their performance meets product specifications.
  • Summarize and present findings through both written and oral report-outs.

TO QUALIFY, THE CANDIDATE HAS TO BE ACTIVELY ENROLLED IN AN ACADEMIC PROGRAM*** MilliporeSigma is a global leader in life science research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Our culture thrives on creativity and a shared passion for advancing scientific discovery. We are seeking a co-op to join our dynamic Research & Development team. This role supports the Life Science Biology franchise within MilliporeSigma. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and designers on the development of cutting‑edge instruments, consumables, and hardware for the life science research market. Throughout this Co‑op, you will work on variety of engaging problems enhancing your research, presentation, and problem‑solving skills. This program offers ample opportunities for hands‑on experience, coaching, mentoring, and networking. The position is based in Burlington, MA.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Electromechanical Engineering for the duration of the co‑op assignment (required).
  • Demonstrated ability in strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD Software and creating engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Software (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently while contributing to team goals.
  • strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional experience considered valuable for this position:
  • Familiarity with basic mechanical assembly and testing procedures.
  • Understanding of basic electronics assembly and testing techniques.
  • Proficiency with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software.
  • Experience specifically with SolidWorks or Creo.

salary: $25 - $32 per hour

shift: First

work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
