Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Research Coordinator II for Rheumatology at the Main Campus in Cleveland. The role supports multiple clinical trials, enrolls patients, conducts visits, and collects study data across the full lifecycle of trials.

You will manage approximately 10–15 prospective studies, including drug and device trials, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment. A transition to hybrid work may occur based on experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience as a Research Coordinator I or in a related role.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in health care or science related and one year of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient with computer-based skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the compliant implementation and conduct of human subject research projects.
  • Maintain regulatory documents and binders, conduct data management, complete IRB submissions and communicate with the research team.
  • Report and complete serious adverse events and/or safety logs.
  • Communicate with sponsors, monitors and research personnel to ensure all aspects of study compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between investigators, research personnel, outside study personnel and central research administration offices to assist in protocol interpretation, enrollment and safety questions.
  • Schedule pre-site selection visits, site initiation visits, webinars, monitoring and close-out visits.
  • Plan, conduct and evaluate project protocols and research subject recruitment.
  • Monitor and report project status and research data.
  • Complete regulatory documents, data capture, monitoring plans and protocol-related activities.
  • Assist with preparing and responding to audits and maintaining research tools.

Education

As a Research Coordinator II supporting Rheumatology, your role is crucial in enrolling patients in clinical trials, conducting study visits and collecting questionnaires with important study-related information. In this role, you will independently manage approximately 10–15 prospective clinical research studies, including drug and device trials, and perform moderate- to high-complexity research activities throughout the study lifecycle, from feasibility and start-up through closeout. You will also support additional departmental and research-related responsibilities as needed. While the numerous responsibilities can be challenging to manage, you will work with a supportive team that encourages you to enhance your skills and identify new avenues of treatment. A caregiver in this role works during core hours from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with flexibility and travel required as needed based on departmental and study needs.

This position may transition to a hybrid schedule after the new hire period, based on experience.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience as a Research Coordinator I or performing the role of a Research Coordinator I
  • OR Associate's or Bachelor's degree in health care or science related and one year of experience as a Research Coordinator I or performing the role of a Research Coordinator I
  • Proficient with computer-based skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in health care or science related field
  • Experience supporting clinical research involving investigational devices
  • Operating Room (OR) experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and accountability
  • Proven experience managing studies throughout the full research lifecycle, from feasibility assessment and study start-up through enrollment, maintenance, and closeout
  • Strong track record of meeting or exceeding enrollment and study performance goals

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • In some locations, ability to move up to 25 pounds
