Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory seeks a Research Computing Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and optimize software for high‑performance computing in classified and cloud environments. The role requires on-site work in State College, PA or Reston, VA, with eligibility for security clearance.

You will lead engineers and researchers, implement scalable software solutions, optimize performance, and document technical specifications for research communities.

Formación

• Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination
• Experience in code analysis, software development and performance optimization
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance

Responsabilidades

• Develop, deploy, enhance, and maintain software applications for research computing
• Implement efficient algorithms and data structures for large datasets
• Collaborate with engineers/researchers to ensure integration with research computing infrastructure
• Provide support and troubleshooting for software issues
• Create and maintain documentation for software tools
• Lead or participate in project planning, development, testing, and deployment
