Job summary

Southend Pharmacy in Houston, TX is seeking a Research Compounding Pharmacist to develop formulations and build regulatory documentation for a growing 503A compounding operation.

The role involves hands-on lab work in sterile and non-sterile formulations, plus drafting specifications, dosing protocols, and SOPs to support regulatory submissions. Onsite relocation to Houston is required.

Qualifications

• PharmD, BS in Pharmacy, or foreign pharmacy degree with an active Texas pharmacist license
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in compounding pharmacy, formulation development, or pharmaceutical R&D
• Comfortable with hands-on lab work (compounding, vialing) — not supervisory
• Strong written communication, regulatory-compliant, well-cited clinical documents
• Working knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, <800>
• Willingness to relocate to the Houston area for onsite role

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize sterile and non-sterile formulations across dosage forms
• Support sterile compounding in the clean room with technicians and pharmacists
• Conduct formulation trials, stability studies, and compatibility testing
• Draft and review SOPs and master formulation records (MFRs)
• Support regulatory submissions, audits, and inspections as needed
• Collaborate with operations to transfer formulations into production
• Provide technical guidance and training to pharmacists and technicians
• Evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and equipment
• Contribute to strategic planning for the product pipeline
