Job summary

Leidos in Frederick, MD seeks a skilled Laboratory Scientist to support the LASP for organoid and iPSC-based preclinical models under the SOM initiative. You will culture iPSCs, develop assays, analyze data, and contribute to SOPs and manuscripts.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience, 5+ years in mammalian cell culture, and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Exempt full-time role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years related experience in lieu of degree, CHEA evaluated if foreign.
• Minimum of five years of related experience.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, and standard laboratory practices.
• Experience with basic molecular and cellular biology techniques and accurate documentation.
• Must possess basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Independently performing iPSC culture, maintenance, expansion, cryopreservation, and differentiation.
• Designing, executing, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex cell-based assays and quality control procedures.
• Characterizing iPSC lines and differentiated products using flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, qPCR, microscopy.
• Maintaining accurate laboratory records and contributing to reports, SOPs, and presentations.
• Managing laboratory operations including inventory, reagent prep, equipment maintenance, and biosafety compliance.
• Training and mentoring junior personnel in stem cell culture techniques and best practices.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary investigators to support organoid-based preclinical models for NIH SOM Initiative.
