Job summary

The Comprehensive Transplant Immunobiology Laboratory (CTIL) at Northwestern University, Chicago, seeks a Research Associate to develop and apply cell-based assays and 3D tissue models. This role collaborates with Pandorum International to advance tissue engineering projects and combines mammalian cell culture, disease-relevant model development, and biochemical analysis.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a life-science discipline as listed in the minimum qualifications.
• Demonstrated ownership of experimental projects and ability to design robust studies.
• Strong skills in data analysis and scientific communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform biochemical, molecular and cell-based assays; analyze results and maintain complete laboratory records.
• Design controlled experiments with predefined objectives and appropriate replication; keep thorough records.
• Establish and characterize human cellular, multicellular and 3D tissue models including spheroids or organoids.
• Develop and qualify assays for biological activity in disease-relevant systems.
• Characterize materials using biochemical and molecular methods and perform quantitative cell-based assays.
• Evaluate responses, reproducibility, and tissue-relevant function with proper controls.
• Prepare technical reports, present findings, and contribute to assay transfer and preclinical documentation.
• Own experimental plans, SOPs, reports, and mentor junior team members.
