The Stem Cell Translation Laboratory at NCATS is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to develop and engineer innovative three-dimensional (3D) human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived models and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to advance translational research.
We are looking for candidates with a strong research background and demonstrated publication record in stem cell biology, developmental biology, organoid biology, tissue engineering, bioengineering, biomaterials, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have experience developing, optimizing, and characterizing hPSC-derived 3D cell and tissue models. Relevant expertise includes hPSC culture and directed differentiation, 3D cell culture, organoid generation, biomaterials and hydrogels, microphysiological systems, microfluidics, and quantitative characterization of engineered tissues. Prior experience developing intestinal, kidney, cortical, sensory, or other hPSC-derived organoid models is particularly desirable.
The successful candidate will develop, optimize, and apply scalable 3D hPSC-derived models, integrating stem cell differentiation and developmental biology with tissue engineering approaches to generate physiologically relevant human experimental systems for disease modeling, drug discovery, and therapeutic development.
Applicants should demonstrate scientific rigor, creativity, independence, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment. Strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to publishing high-quality research are expected. This position offers an opportunity to work at the interface of stem cell biology, developmental biology, tissue engineering, and translational science, with access to state-of-the-art technologies and NCATS’ highly collaborative research environment. We are particularly interested in candidates excited about developing next-generation, scalable human-relevant hiPSC models and NAMs.
