The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences in the TilmanJ. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houstoninvites applications for a Research Assistant Professor position inthe field of Behavioral Science and Social Work Research. We arerecruiting new faculty who have achieved excellence in education,teaching, and research and are prepared to contribute to our boldvision.

This is a Research Assistant Professor non-tenure track facultyposition.
This position will be full time at 1.0 FTE conducting fundedresearch and providing clinical services in the UH Family CareCenter or other clinical sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in externally funded research within thefaculty member’s area of expertise, with an emphasis on UH Collegeof Medicine (UHCOM) priority areas, including social determinantsof health and common medical and psychosocial conditions affectingunderserved populations. Collaborate with UHCOM faculty and facultyacross other University of Houston departments and colleges onscholarly and research activities.
• Secure external funding to support the faculty member’s researchprogram and salary, with a focus on UHCOM priority areas, includingsocial determinants of health and common medical and psychosocialconditions affecting underserved populations.
• Mentor and support medical student research projects that alignwith the faculty member’s areas of expertise.
• Provide clinical services consistent with the faculty member’sdiscipline and expertise within the UH Family Care Center and/orother UH-affiliated clinical settings. Responsibilities may includesupervision of medical students and other health professionslearners.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in clinical social work or related discipline(psychology).
• Licensed or license eligible to practice profession in the Stateof Texas. Eligible to supervise trainees in person’s field.
• Knowledge of NIH and other federal funding sources and skilled atwriting fundable grant applications.
• Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning, includingactive and applied learning modalities.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to informdecision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and ability to work effectivelyin a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer candidate have existing NIH or other federal funding thatthey bring to UHCOM.
• Track record of scholarly contributions and publications in theirfield.
