Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Research Assistant in Orthopaedics and PM&R to support recruitment of research participants, data collection, and data entry across multiple studies.

You will assist physicians and coordinators in collecting questionnaires, interviews, and lab data, ensuring timely and accurate reporting for principal investigators and staff involved in shoulder, knee, spine and hip research projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and two years relevant program experience; a bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
• Strong organizational skills
• Data entry experience
• Patient care experience

Responsibilities

• Assist PI in ambulatory clinics by administering questionnaires and consents to patients; collect data per protocol; provide information to study participants during appointments.
• Contact study participants by phone or letter to schedule follow-up visits post-surgery for shoulder, knee, spine and hip studies; conduct outcome survey data collection by calling participants and asking outcome questions for long-term follow-up studies; utilize Excel to maintain enrollment logs and follow-up logs.
• Collect, compile, and input study data for participants into specified databases; manage study data and prepare reports as deemed necessary by study PIs and Research Coordinator.
• Travel with Research Coordinator to clinic sites and assist with participant recruitment and data collection for research studies.
• Other duties as assigned.
