Masonic Medical Research Institute - MMRI in Utica, NY, seeks a full-time entry-level Research Assistant to support the Lin lab. You will assist the PI and postdocs by performing fundamental experiments across molecular biology, cell culture, and data analysis, while documenting results for grants and meetings.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in biology or related science required.

Responsibilities

• Perform DNA, mRNA, and protein isolation; conduct PCR, western, immunohistochemistry, cell assays, and transfections.
• Culture cells; conduct drug studies as directed by the PI.
• Carry out histologic/immunocytochemical experiments and data analysis with Excel/STAT packages.
• Prepare oral and written reports for PI, including abstracts, manuscripts and grants.
• Collect mouse samples for genotyping; assist with mouse crosses and phenotyping.
• Assist with animal surgery, transport and recordkeeping; help with mouse drug/behavior studies.
• Collaborate with PIs and staff on research projects.
• Train and assist other staff in lab procedures and equipment.
