UTHealth Houston Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is hiring two Research Assistants to join their team of professionals in the Texas Medical Center as part of the Wellcome Leap Study. Under the close direction of senior research staff, the Research Assistants will conduct activities to support research projects, including performing phlebotomy on research participants.
This project aims to identify biosignatures for predicting long-term clinical outcomes in patients treated with opioids for pain management following trauma injury.
We use behavioral, genomics, and bioinformatics pipelines to characterize opioid-induced gene expression dynamics among trauma patients prescribed opioids at discharge. Based on results from this study, we will develop a high-throughput screening assay to predict risk for opioid use disorder.

Under the close supervision of senior research staff, the Research Assistant conducts activities to support research projects.
General knowledge of research fields.
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
None required.
Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly. May involve work with hazardous agents.
This position may be security sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code § 51.215.
Must reside and work in Texas permanently.
