Job description

Research Assistant I - Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (Finance)

UTHealth Houston Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is hiring two Research Assistants to join their team of professionals in the Texas Medical Center as part of the Wellcome Leap Study. Under the close direction of senior research staff, the Research Assistants will conduct activities to support research projects, including performing phlebotomy on research participants.

This project aims to identify biosignatures for predicting long-term clinical outcomes in patients treated with opioids for pain management following trauma injury.

We use behavioral, genomics, and bioinformatics pipelines to characterize opioid-induced gene expression dynamics among trauma patients prescribed opioids at discharge. Based on results from this study, we will develop a high-throughput screening assay to predict risk for opioid use disorder.

  • The longer you stay, the more vacation you'll accrue!
  • Longevity Pay (Monthly payments after two years of service)
