Job description

Research Assistant I - Neurology (BRAINS Lab) (Finance)

Full-time nonexempt position available in Neurology (BRAINS Lab).

Responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining animal colonies, breeding schemes, and supporting day-to-day lab activities.
  2. Supporting senior lab personnel with project tasks.
  3. Conducting research activities under supervision, including patient recruitment, screening, laboratory experiments, informatics, field interviewing, and animal lab work.
  4. Maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas for safety and efficiency.
  5. Collecting, evaluating, and interpreting research data; updating records and databases.
  6. Staying updated on new protocols.
  7. Ordering supplies as needed.
  8. Coordinating work of technicians and assistants to ensure quality results.
  9. Complying with all policies, rules, and regulations.
  10. Performing other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of research fields.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
  • No specific experience required.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work with potentially hazardous agents.
  • Security-sensitive position, subject to Texas Education Code § 51.215.
  • Must reside and work in Texas.
