Job summary

MaineHealth Institute for Research in Scarborough, ME seeks a Research Assistant I or II to perform a wide range of laboratory procedures under supervision. The role focuses on a funded project using mouse models to study intergenerational epigenetic effects of paternal thyroid hormone on energy balance and related systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in routine laboratory techniques and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Closely monitor experiments; record and organize results.
• Report technical issues or deviations in experimental conditions.
• Work with mice (colony maintenance and genotyping, euthanasia, tissue dissection) and use basic molecular techniques (qPCR, hormone ELISAs).
