Job summary

West Virginia University, through the WVU Cancer Institute and BioTRAC, is hiring a Research Assistant to support biospecimen handling, clinical data collection, and study coordination in translational and basic science research.

You will screen participants, obtain consent, process biospecimens, manage data in LIMS, and assist investigators while upholding GCP and HIPAA requirements. The role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of clinical research principles, GCP, HIPAA, IRB policies.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Screen clinic schedules and evaluate participants for eligibility.
• Obtain informed consent per IRB protocols and institutional policies.
• Coordinate enrollment, specimen collection, and study activities with investigators and staff.
• Monitor treatment schedules and follow-up visits for data collection.
• Receive, process, store, and distribute biospecimens following SOPs.
• Prepare reagents and work with laboratory equipment per protocols.
• Abstract and maintain clinical and research data in databases and LIMS.
• Maintain specimen inventories and chain of custody documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GCP, HIPAA, biosafety standards and policies.
