Job summary

West Virginia University’s Health Sciences Center Cancer Institute seeks a Research Assistant to support BioTRAC, coordinating participant screening, consent, biospecimen collection, and data management for translational and basic research.

You will handle specimens from patient care areas, work with investigators and clinic staff, and ensure timely, compliant execution of study activities under GCP and HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences or related field.
• Minimum 6 months of lab experience or related work.
• All qualifications must be met at time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Screen schedules and evaluate eligibility for enrollment.
• Obtain informed consent per IRB protocols and policies.
• Coordinate participant enrollment and specimen collection with investigators.
• Monitor participant timelines and coordinate clinical data collection.
• Receive, process, store, and distribute biospecimens per SOPs.
• Prepare reagents and operate laboratory equipment per protocols.
• Maintain accurate research data in databases and LIMS.
• Ensure compliance with GCP, HIPAA, and biosafety guidelines.
