Job summary

Temple University's College of Science & Technology Biology division seeks a Research Assistant to support studies on X chromosome genes and their impact on age-related cognitive decline. You will manage a mouse colony, perform genotyping, and assist with specialized lab equipment usage.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in biology and related research experience, plus strong organizational, data-analysis, and communication skills. Weekend or after-hours work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with research projects on X chromosome genes and age-related cognitive decline.

• Assist in daily use and maintenance of lab equipment (spectrophotometers, incubators, FACS machines, microscopes).
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety/infection control policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Manages the mouse colony including breeding and genotyping transgenic lines. Comply with laboratory safety/infection control policies and procedures. Assists in the daily use and maintenance of specialized equipment in the laboratory including spectrophotometers, incubators, FACS machines, cell culture equipment micro-injection apparatuses, regular and confocal microscopes, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.Required Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in biology and six months of related research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Required Skills & Abilities: Excellent organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
