Project Title: NYC Communities for Health (NYCC4H)
Project Description
NYC Communities for Health (NYCC4H) is a prevention-based and SAMHSA-funded program housed at NYU Silver School of Social Work. Our mission is to prevent STIs, underage drinking, and substance use through community prevention education, harm reduction resources, and referrals to social and clinical services to ensure safer cities and healthier futures for Bronx youth ages 13-24. By addressing historical health injustices for marginalized groups (e.g., Black and Latinx communities), we aim to minimize health disparities and empower community members to enact change in their daily lives. Related to these goals, NYCC4H also provides overdose prevention and response training with fentanyl test strips (FTS) and naloxone (NARCAN) to address substance use disparities in communities in need of such services.
