Role: Research Assistant Intern

Employment Type: Internship

Timeline: Start early June and end late August, with the possibility of extension through November.

We are seeking a Research Assistant Intern to support the creative team on “Project CLD”, a light-hearted, humorous educational adventure series for children. This is a fully remote, part-time internship designed for curious, resourceful individuals who are passionate about design, worldbuilding, and storytelling through visual research.

This opportunity is open to anyone of legal working age, regardless of education level or background. Whether you’re a student, self-taught learner, or someone transitioning into animation, what matters most is your passion for creative development and your ability to gather, organize, and share inspiring reference material.

About the Role:

As a Research Assistant Intern, you will help the design team by collecting visual and thematic references that inform the creation of characters, props, backgrounds, and sound. Your research will support the tone, cultural grounding, and authenticity of the animated world. You’ll be encouraged to think visually and narratively while contributing to mood boards, inspiration folders, and reference guides used throughout production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and compile visual references to support character, background, prop, and sound design.
• Curate inspiration boards and reference decks based on artistic and thematic needs.
• Organize and maintain a shared library of images, clips, and articles for the creative team.
• Present findings and inspiration to the team in short visual or written summaries.
• Collaborate with artists and leadership to support the look and feel of the series.

Estimated 5 to 10 hours per week from June to August. This internship is remote and includes regular video meetings. A potential second cycle may run from September to November for those who are not students or who wish to continue.

Qualifications:

• A strong curiosity for design, storytelling, visual history, and culture.
• Ability to research and synthesize ideas into clear, visually organized materials.
• Comfort using Google Drive, Pinterest, or other image-sharing tools.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• No formal training required—but applicants must show they’ve made an effort to learn on their own (e.g., research blogs, sketchbooks, creative projects, mood boards, etc.).
