Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking a full-time Animal Care Technician to provide daily care for various species in the Medical Campus animal facilities. Responsibilities include observation, feeding, enrichment, and assisting with procedures and specimen collection as needed.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, 1 year of animal care experience, and may have AALAS ALAT certification; ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• AALAS ALAT certification at ALT level preferred and encouraged.
• Minimum 1 year of animal care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide animal husbandry for various species, including NHPs.
• Observe and care for animals, including feeding, watering and enrichment.
• Monitor room environment (temperature, humidity) and document daily.
• Sanitize cages and equipment to maintain biosafety.
• Receive animals and supplies and manage housing and storage.
