Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of medical device R&D/product development experience.
• Experience with catheter delivery systems.
• Experience with multilayer catheter construction and stack-ups.
• Experience with large-diameter delivery systems and laser-cut hypotubes preferred.
• Experience with contract manufacturers and design transfer is a plus.
• Strong mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Willingness to travel as needed and onsite work in Burlington.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, prototype, test, and troubleshoot complex catheter delivery systems.

• Collaborate with an external catheter contract manufacturer.

About the Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to play a key role in the continued development of a sophisticated catheter delivery system. This will be a hands-on position with broad responsibility across catheter design and development, testing, manufacturing support, and clinical case support.

The ideal candidate will have significant catheter development experience and be comfortable taking ownership within a small, fast-moving medical device environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, prototype, test, and troubleshoot complex catheter delivery systems
• Support catheter designs involving multilayer construction, complex stack-ups, steering mechanisms, and significant articulation
• Work with technologies such as large-diameter delivery systems and laser-cut hypotubes
• Work closely with an external catheter contract manufacturer
• Support development handoff and technical activities with manufacturing partners
• Troubleshoot design and manufacturing challenges as the product progresses
• Provide engineering and technical support during clinical cases
• Collaborate closely with a small, cross-functional development team and take ownership of projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Approximately 5-10 years of medical device R&D/product development experience preferred
• Experience with complex or steerable catheter delivery systems
• Experience with multilayer catheter construction and complex component stack-ups
• Experience with large-diameter delivery systems and/or laser-cut hypotubes strongly preferred
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and supporting design transfer/manufacturing activities is a plus
• Strong mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting capabilities
• Ability and willingness to provide technical support during clinical cases and travel as needed
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative team
• Local to the Greater Boston area with the ability to regularly work onsite in Burlington
