Our Client is seeking a Research and Development Technician to join our global Research and Development group. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with demonstrated capabilities and strong communication skills. This position will be located in Spartanburg, SC.

The Research and Development Technician works under the supervision of a Research and Development Scientist in product research and development in support of strategic and overall Indorama Ventures objectives. The R&D Technician position will be expected to run assigned trials safely, efficiently, and correctly toward driving product development efforts within the R&D team.

Responsibilities / Job Requirements:

• Work with Research and Development scientific personnel to evaluate new polymer formulations developed and provide analytical support to meet new customer requirements and solve plant production problems
• Understand the primary objective of each of the various directed requests in order to provide quality data relevant to the pertinent project
• Maintain equipment and lab space in clean and orderly fashion
• Interact and follow through with applications development personnel to conduct compounding and/or film/bottle trials for various internal customers
• Gather information to troubleshoot process problems as required
• Accurately document all work in company-provided laboratory notebook and/or data management system, communicating new knowledge and information in a timely manner while protecting company intellectual property
• Comply with all laws, regulations, and company policies, especially those of Corporate and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), in carrying out official duties by consistently performing high quality work while minimizing waste generation and risk to self, personnel, and assets

Education / Experience / Skills:

Required

• A.S. (≥ 3 years) / High School diploma or GED (≥ 5 years) in physical or life sciences laboratory environment
• Orientation to detail; able to accurately execute intricate tasks by following SOPs
• Preparation and recording of thorough notes to document observations and progress
• Recognition and communication of safety risks in a timely manner
• Possession of basic mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of pump, motor, and machine maintenance
• Ability to multitask to make productive use of holding / down time
• Leverage of computer and software productivity tools to manage data
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills for effective working across functions
• Open-mindedness toward rapid learning, continuous improvement, and adaptation to latest insights and project demands

Preferred

• Proficiency in organic chemistry, with experience in polymer synthesis
• Working knowledge / hands-on experience with a variety of analytical characterization methods
