Job summary

Creative Solutions Services, LLC in Wilmington, DE seeks a Technologist for a 9-month R&D assignment. You will fabricate resin-based parts, including mixing, milling, pressing and sintering, and document results using an electronic lab notebook.

You will analyze outcomes, characterize material structure with NMR and IR, and work with DSC, TGA, DMA, and TMA instrumentations. Present findings at team meetings and ensure safety, inventory, and proper DOT shipping for external testing.

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Material, Chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge or working experience with polymer characterization instrumentation is preferred.
  • Ability to learn a wide variety of testing methods and instruments.
  • Experience with mechanical testing equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Independently make parts from resins, including mixing, milling, pressing and sintering, and document using an electronic lab notebook; may perform organic reactions with similar documentation.
  • Analyze results, recognize erroneous outcomes, and suggest a path forward.
  • Characterize material structure and performance using spectroscopic techniques including NMR and IR.
  • Learn polymer characterization instrumentation such as DSC, TGA, DMA, TMA, and impact/tensile testing.
  • Document and report all data; present findings at team meetings.
  • Operate Windows-based computer systems and troubleshoot instruments.

Job description

Job Title: Technologist - Research & Development

Location: Wilmington, DE

Duration: 9 Months

Main job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Independently making parts from resins, including mixing, milling, pressing and sintering, monitoring, product work-up/analysis/characterization, and experimental documentation using an electronic laboratory notebook system. May asked conducting organic reactions, including reaction system assembly, monitoring, product work-up/analysis/characterization, and experimental documentation using an electronic laboratory notebook system.
  • Analyze results, recognize erroneous or unexpected outcomes, and make suggestions for a path forward.
  • Characterize material structure and performance, using various spectroscopic techniques, including, NMR, IR
  • Become familiar with and learn polymer characterization instrumentation such as DSC, TGA, DMA, TMA, Impact and Tensile Testing.
  • Properly document and report all experimental data. Present findings and results at team meetings.
  • Ability to use windows-based computer systems.
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate instruments. Author and prepare instrument manuals and SOPs.
  • Participate and follow all DuPont safety policies and best practices. Support process safety management (PSM) by maintaining laboratory safety documentation.
  • Order and purchase supplies when needed. Maintain chemical, resin and experimental sample inventory.
  • Coordinate outside laboratory testing, including shipping samples following proper DOT rules and regulations.
  • Required limited lifting of lab equipment (Reactor, glassware, etc.).
Quals--
  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Material, Chemistry or have equivalent experience.
