Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, public policy, business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT policy, compliance, security, risk management, or related research experience
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills with ability to translate stakeholder requirements into actionable research and recommendations
  • Experience mentoring Junior research analysts
  • Knowledge of IT Lifecycle Management, Policy and Compliance, and IT Process and System Optimization
  • Strong analytical and research methodology skills - synthesizing data from multiple sources into clear findings
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Attention to detail, particularly with compliance documentation and audit trails

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research using regulatory databases, industry publications, technical references, and internal organizational documentation.
  • Organize, summarize, and synthesize research findings into clear reference materials for use by the Compliance Analyst and Technical Writer.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, including interviews, surveys, and requirements-gathering sessions.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date research repositories and citation logs to support the centralized documentation objective.
  • Assist in benchmarking and comparative analysis to inform recommendations across all task areas.
  • Track emerging regulatory changes, mandates, and industry trends relevant to the program's scope.
  • Prepare research summaries, briefing materials, and background documentation to support team deliverables.

The Gist…

We are seeking a Research Analyst to provide analytical support services for a government client. This role supports strategy, policy, and governance efforts across diverse agency stakeholders, centralizing and expediting the management of IT directives, executive orders (EOs), and policy memoranda into a unified execution framework. The position spans technical writing, cross-functional coordination, and policy analysis, with the objective of strengthening the agency's IT decision-making framework, enhancing regulatory alignment, expediting policy lifecycle management, and centralizing/standardizing governance processes.

The Research Analyst works closely with the Compliance Analyst and Technical Writer, providing the underlying research and data analysis that supports compliance findings and policy documentation, while also engaging directly with IT leadership and stakeholders to gather requirements and validate findings.

What Your Day Might Include…
