Sylvania is seeking Reading Club Instructors in Redding, California starting September 2026. The role focuses on improving reading skills for students in grades 2-4, working in small groups to provide targeted instruction.

Job description

Position: Reading Club Instructor (2) – 2026 - 2027

Responsibilities: CT Certified Teacher

Note: An interview may be necessary.

Qualifications:

• Reading Club is a general education program that focuses on reinforcing and improving students’ reading skills in small group instructional setting;
• Implement, evaluate and remediate the reading curriculum for students who need support;
• Understand the reading outcomes for each grade level;
• Have an understanding of collected reading data to determine students’ strengths and weaknesses;
• Technical Abilities: SmartBoards; MS Excel (understanding of statistical data and spreadsheet analysis)
• Reading Club instructors provide targeted instruction to students below grade level benchmarks;
• Reading Club Instructor will work closely with classroom teachers to determine which students need extra help on a particular topic;
• Grades 2, 3 & 4 will be targeted grades.

Time Requirement:

• Instructors may not leave until all participants have been picked up by parent/guardian.
• One time meeting for the purpose of End of Year Reflection will be scheduled (see attached or other side of this page).
• Club meets two days each week for specific grade levels outside of school day for 60 minutes of instructions plus 15 minutes of prep time (1.25 hours per session) 2 Instructors - 25 sessions max per instructor for program.

Stipend: $77.00/hr. paid upon receipt of time sheet and according to payroll schedule

$2,406.25 per instructor
