Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking an HR support specialist to provide first-tier information and assistance to employees and the public. You will handle a high volume of calls and emails, escalating issues to the appropriate resources within Employee Services.

The role involves assisting with benefits, onboarding, enrollment changes, and maintaining HR records. A strong customer service background and experience with HR portals are essential. DPS offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of customer service experience or HR onboarding/analyst/generalist experience.
  • Experience in high-volume recruitment or inbound call center is preferred.
  • Resident of Colorado with ability to meet physical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-tier information about benefits, staffing, compensation and HR processes; handle high call and email volumes and escalate as needed.
  • Assist employees with questions and HR forms such as benefit enrollments and changes.
  • Troubleshoot HR systems issues (online application, self-service portal, HR website).
  • Maintain logs and reporting; support HR communications and policy updates.
  • Support records management, I-9 compliance, and related HR duties as assigned.

Supports Employee Services, an internal human resources team, providing first tier operational and administrative support to employees and the public regarding District Human Resources. Handles a high volume of inquiries in a timely manner, providing excellent customer service.

What You'll Do
  • Provides first tier information about Benefits, Staffing, Compensation, Training, Career Development, Performance Evaluations, Employee Self Service Systems, Guest Teachers, Employee/Labor Relations, Employee events, etc.; handles a high volume of calls and email inquiries, escalating as needed and forwarding to appropriate resources within the department.
  • Assists employees with questions and various Human Resources (HR) form and application processing, such as benefit plan enrollment/change documents.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves system issues for the online application system, employee self service portal, and HR website.
  • Maintains logs and complete reporting requirements in an accurate timely manner.
  • Supports HR communication and change initiatives that go out to all employees from Human Resources (i.e. open enrollment, incentive payments, staff reductions, etc.).
  • Maintains current on all aspects of HR policy, benefits, information or events, including eligibility, policy, procedures, benefits, vendor contact information, costs, etc..
  • Provides support for records management, I9 compliance tracking and related human resources duties, as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • One to three years of customer service experience or one (1) or more years of HR onboarding or HR technician/analyst/generalist experience.
  • Previous experience working in a high volume recruitment or staffing environment or in an inbound Call Center strongly preferred.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
