Job summary

AHMC HealthCare in Monterey Park, CA is seeking an Admitting Representative to interview patients and their representatives, verifying information and coordinating through the PBX and front desk.

The role requires strong communication, medical terminology proficiency, and comfort using computer systems to input and retrieve data. Prior hospital admissions experience is preferred, with a HS diploma and BCLS/AB508 certification expected within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.

• Required upon 90 days hire; BCLS (AHA), AB508.

Responsibilities

• Interview the patient or representative to obtain identifying and verifying information.
• Gather and verify patient data including name, address, age, DOB and insurance details.
• Interface with the PBX operator and reception areas as needed.
• Input and retrieve data using computer systems.
• Communicate with diverse populations using age-appropriate techniques from neonatal to geriatrics.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology and complete ad-hoc projects within deadlines.

Job description

The Admitting Representative interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and verifying information, such as patient/s name, address, age, date of birth, social security number, occupation, insurance information and obtaining authorization. Also, have the capabilities of interfacing with the PBX operator and reception areas. Must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data. Ability to communicate with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics. Maintain proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe.
