Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Social Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Worker Assistant in Darlington County. The role supports caseworkers with assessments, family preservation, and foster care activities, and helps arrange transportation to community resources.

You will join a team handling client services, maintain records, and assist with administrative tasks while protecting sensitive information and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required with 3 years’ experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration or general business.
• Associate Degree with 1 year of related experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide casework services in assessment, family preservation and foster care.

Job Duties:

• The Child Welfare Services Case Worker Assistant provides provide services to remedy abuse, neglect, exploitations or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves. Case Worker Assistant will assist Case Worker I's with providing casework services in the area of assessment, family preservation and foster care.
• Provides or arranges transportation to resources in the community as a part of social service aide plan.
• Participates as a member of a professional team to plan services for clients.
• Makes requests for medical, dental, law enforcement records etc.
• Makes referrals to service providers, family group conferencing, seneca search etc.
• Assists with the completion of Foster Care Review Board packets.
• Assists with the transportation of children.
• Assists with child and family visitation.
• Assists with other administrative support functions to include correspondences, copy, fax, email etc.
• Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. To protect the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.
• Performs other related duties to include but not limited to Red Cross Shelter duties when needed.

A High School Diploma and three (3) years’ experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration or general business.

A Associate Degree and one (1) year of experience in clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration or general business.

A Bachelors Degree or higher may be substituted for required experience.
